Latest Project.

Based on the Legend of St. Hild. Whitby was once overrun with snakes, and when Hild arrived and wanted to build the Whitby Abbey, she cast a spell that turned all of the snakes into stone. She then proceeded to throw them off of the cliffs, hence why people still find the ammonite fossils roaming on the shorelines…

St. Hild is a prominent female figure because she founded the Abbey, demonstrated remarkable leadership, and advocated for learning and the arts, all at a time when the church was largely male-dominated.

The ammonite necklace and snake belt are both hand-drawn to represent the stone snakes.
